Services

The reception desk at Hotel Luna Llena doubles as a tour office and is open all day every day. Our friendly receptionists all speak English and Spanish and are able to help you arrange activities for your days in Tamarindo.  We offer tours and excursions throughout the entire country specializing in local National Parks and eco-adventures.   Many of these activities revolve around the natural beauty of the tropical Pacific Ocean; we offer spectacular snorkeling trips, rides to secret surf spots, unforgettably fun surf lessons for beginners, sailboat and catamaran cruises to fill your afternoons and scuba diving to an ancient submerged volcano rim.  On land we offer a variety of ATV tours, horseback rides on back-country trails and canopy tours where you learn what it feels like to fly through the trees.  There are many National Parks near Tamarindo Bay, the closest of which is only minutes from Hotel Luna Llena and in which you will see Howler monkeys, all kinds of water birds, bright-orange-footed crabs and crocodiles of all sizes.  During the nesting season between October and February, it is also possible to witness giant Leatherback sea turtles laying their eggs – a priceless and unforgettable experience.

Our Tour Office can also arrange for your rent-a-car and confirm your flights or other travel plans.  We can also direct you to yoga classes, Latin dance lessons and other community activities.  When it’s time to relax we can arrange a massage for you at the hotel or send you to our favorite spectacular spa for all-day pampering.  

Restaurant

Our brand new Restaurant is housed in a new wooden structure; an open-air Balineese-style restaurant which features our favorite Italian cuisine.

Getting Here

Liberia International Airport is about an hour away from Tamarindo.  The small terminal, which opened in 2003, receives a growing number of flights from many countries.  Taxi and shuttle services are available for your arrival and departure.  There is a larger international airport in the capital city of San Jose which is linked to the pacific coast by small domestic airlines, minivan transfers and taxi service.  Air travel time is 45 minutes; ground travel takes about 6 hours.  Give us your flight information when you make your reservation and we can arrange the rest.

Location

Hotel Luna Llena is the perfect location for your Tamarindo vacation. We’re located only a five minute walk from the sun and sand of Tamarindo beach and a five minute walk from the bustling center of town.  Hotel Luna Llena also borders the San Francisco Estuary Reserve which is home to an immense variety of tropical dry forest animals.  Expect to see (and hear!) Howler monkeys in the trees, watch the rainbow of bright-colored birds and butterflies, admire the alien features of the iguanas and the silliness of squirrels.  During Tamarindo’s busiest months, Hotel Luna Llena is a sanctuary of peace and quiet, hidden away from the crowds but still affords you the convenience of a central location.
